You might be someone who is trying to better yourself physically, mentally, socially, or simply become a better version of who you were yesterday. You’re putting in the work, but lately it feels like you’ve hit a plateau. Maybe it even feels like you’re not growing at all.
The people around you see it, though.
They tell you that you’ve changed. They notice your improved attitude, stronger habits, greater confidence, or the way you carry yourself. Yet despite what they say, you struggle to believe them because you don’t see the growth yourself.
Then one day, you look back at where you started.
That’s when you realize you’ve come much farther than you thought.
The reason we often don’t recognize our own progress is because growth usually happens in small, almost unnoticeable ways. Progress isn’t always dramatic, and it definitely isn’t linear.
Think about a new puppy. If you see it every day, you hardly notice it getting bigger. But when friends or family visit, they’re amazed by how much it has grown. You don’t fully recognize the change until you compare the puppy to a photo or memory from months earlier.
Personal growth works the same way.
No matter what you’re doing right now to improve yourself, don’t judge your progress by comparing one day to the next. Instead, stay consistent. Keep showing up. Keep doing the work.
Then, after a few months, look back and see how far you’ve come.
You are growing, even if you can’t see it yet.
